Definition:
Currently,
there are several authors who have contributed their own theories to address
elements. Citing some of them, we have the following concepts.
"Leadership is the
influence of one person to another or to a group, according to a particular
situation and is applied through the process of human communication, in order
to achieve specific objectives."
"Leadership is the
process that happens between a leader and his followers through the influence
for achieving corporate objectives, inculcating change."
In
general terms, we can say that:
Leadership is the capacity and
the ability to influence and inspire others to achieve business or personal
goals.
Essence
of leadership
Leadership
influences other people, but in a positive way, taking advantage of the
capabilities and orienting them towards the achievement of the goals of any
business or personal life.
The real
essence begins with a person who wants to change and improve what sees around
and, at the same time, has skills, influence and charisma to transform,
motivate and inspire others to achieve the stated purposes. As it indicated
Alfonso Siliceo Aguilar; in his book Líderes
para el siglo XXI, "being a leader is to influence people to achieve a
particular purpose, that is valuable for the organization".
Leadership
Styles
a) The autocratic
leader: Always orders and expects the fulfillment of things, is inflexible and
positive at the same time. He runs through rewards and punishments.
b)
Democratic or participatory leader: He consults the
actions and decisions with subordinates, what improve his participation. This
type of leader ranges from the person who doesn’t initiate any action without
the presence of subordinates to the person who decides on something, but
consults with subordinates before doing something.
c) The uncontrolled
leader: He uses some of its power by giving greater independence to the
subordinates in their operations.
